ABOUT John Connors
John Connors is a seasoned lawyer and business executive with a unique combination of experiences as a chief legal officer, law firm partner, and senior operations executive serving diverse public and private businesses with industry emphasis in banking and financial services.

Most recently Mr. Connors has been the head of Corporate Legal Governance for UBS’ Americas Region and Corporate Secretary to the Board of its U.S. Intermediate Holding Company. Prior to that Mr. Connors was the U.S. Country Manager for Bank of Ireland’s U.S. Capital Markets operations where he established Bank of Ireland’s Connecticut Branch and subsequently its New York and Chicago Representative offices. He was responsible for building and managing the team of professionals who provided the governance structure overseeing effective management of the regulatory compliance, legal and operational infrastructure for the Bank’s U.S. Capital Markets businesses. He was a key member of the executive team dealing with federal and state bank regulatory officials.

Mr. Connors’ further experience in foreign banking operations is reflected in his nine-plus years at Fortis Bank’s U.S. operations, where he began as the General Counsel and succeeded to the position of Chief Operating Officer. His Fortis experience included integration of disparate businesses, improvement of the governance structure, and the workout of over $250 million of distressed investment fund assets.

His legal experience with major firms, including partnership at Paul Hastings and the position of General Counsel of Merrill Lynch Realty, led to increasingly expanded roles in both legal and business affairs, including significant experience in corporate and real estate finance and securities transaction matters.  Mr. Connors has also served on several not-for-profit and corporate boards.

Mr. Connors is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, after which he served five years as an officer in the U. S. Army.
